Day 491- Gotta Go Fishin'

My little nephew, Wyett loves to fish! So for his 3rd birthday i decided to make him a indoor fishing set so he won't get out of practice during winter :)

After making the very easy fish and fishing pole and watching him play with it over skype  I thought maybe other people might be interested in how to make such a easy (for you) and fun (for the kids) toy!

 You will need:
-Socks: new or old! i used little kids size (3T-ish)but you can use bigger depending how big you want your fish.
-Cotton Balls: Or other socks
-Magnets:  big/ stong ones (i got like a 50 pack at walmart for pretty cheap)
-Googly eyes. or buttons
-Dowel or stick of some kind
-String
-Hot Glue.
(in the picture there are beads, i thought maybe i would use them in with the stuffing, but decided not to because fish would've been too heavy)

FISH-
Put a magnet in the sock (mouth area) then stuff it with cotton balls (or socks). i used the line that goes on your toe for the mouth just flipped it so it looked like a smile.

Can you see the magnet?

After the fish is stuffed i sewed it closed, but only because it was going to a 3 year old boy. You can just tie it off with a piece of string if you want

Then glue (or sew, if buttons) on the eyes.
See above!

Now you should have a cute little fish!
BTW- The cuter the socks, the cuter the fish!

FISHIN' POLE-  (this is just the easiest way i could figure out to keep the string secure)

Take the dowel (have string handy) and put an inch or inch and a half line of hot glue from the end. then quickly wrap sting around the dowel (when wrapping start at the bottom and go to the end)

HOOK-
This was trail and air for me- i started with two magnets and it was not quite enough power to "hook" a fish. So i did three!
And originally i wrapped a string around the magnets a few times trying to connect it...Fail!
It was mostly a fail because there was so much string it wouln't catch a fish.
So i found an easier way...
Take 2 magnets and put hot glue on one, then place the end of the string on the glue and squish the two magnets together. (hot glue and string sandwich)

For the 3rd, you put the sting on top of what will be the middle magnet and glue another magnet on top. it is kinda hard to explain...  I hope you can figure it out from the picture!

After all the glue is dry....its time to go fishing!!

Wyett loves playing with his fish!
It made me so happy to watch him and hear him "look, i caught one!" as he then showed us his fish on skype!
His mom said that he puts the fish in a bucket and fishes into the bucket, like it is the lake!

I hope your kids like this "indoor fishing" just as much as Wyett!

Day 487- Square Ice Cream Cones!

Over LaborDay weekend my Mom and Fritz came to visit!
They hadn't made it to Idaho Falls since we've lived here.
We stayed pretty busy!
My mom and I went fabric shopping for her a bag (Fritz slept in the Car)
Played Cover Your Assets!
We made a trip to the ER - Don't worry we are all Ok...Kyle had a bad side pain for a week and it got worse one day at work, he was showing us where the pain was at then shortly after he passed out (oh my scary!) It ended up being a contusion in his ribs, the cartilage separated from the bone...OUCH! He got a prescription and felt a lot better!
They brought us some yummy Washington fruit!
We made a nectarine pie!
We explored parts of Eastern Idaho i had only heard about.
Mesa Falls... Huge and pretty! Island Park... Love it! Palisades... Square ice cream cones!!
Who knew such a thing existed...

Thanks for coming to visit us! It was fun!

ALSO, THEY BROUGHT US A LAPTOP THAT JUST NEEDED A LITTLE TLC - WE TOOK IT TO CAMPUS TO GET SOME WORK DONE ON IT (AND WINDOWS 7 added) AND IT WORKS AMAZING!
NOW I CAN BLOG!!! YAY! :)
KYLES LAPTOP DECIDED TO NOT LIKE BLOGGER ANYMORE.

Day 480- Happy Birthday Cat

We get together with Kyle's Brother Todd and his Wife Cat a lot! We all enjoy the same kind of things and all get along very well... we live just across town from each other and are over at one or the others for dinner at least once a week!
Well, last Sunday they came over to our place for dinner and I decided since Cat was having a birthday soon and they would be our of town for it  we should celebrate now!
So i made her a rainbow cake and Kyle wrote her a note on our chalk board!

And of course we finished off the night with a game of Cover your A$$sets!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAT!!

Day 478- Date Night

A few days ago i woke up and found a note in the bathroom cupboard, it lead me to another note, then another, and another. Each note along with the clue of where to go next there was one world. after i found all of them i had to figure out the word puzzle....it said something like
"Will You Go On A With Me Date On Friday ?"

How could i say No?

So Friday rolled around and i got off work and walked our to my car and there was a hansom guy sitting on his motorcycle waiting for me.
He asked are you hungry now or in 30 min...30 min!
So we got in my car and drove towards Rexburg (3o min away)
Then he asked if i wanted to eat somewhere new or familiar?
I didnt like this question...so i asked a few questions.
What if i say new cuz i dont know what familiar is but i really want familiar because it is my favorite place. BUT what if familiar is not the place i am hoping it is and i would rather have something new?
Kyle just laughed at me...and told me i had to pick.
So instead of picking i guessed what the familiar was and was right so then he told me the new.
I picked familiar....but when we drove past the new we stopped just to see what they had on their menu. We ate there! It was very good!

Now for the Activity.....
We pulled up to a gymnastic gym. In my mind i was thinking dang, i was hoping we were going rock climbing. But we walk in and there was a HUGE rock climbing wall!
It was so much fun!
Kyle is great at still making dates fun, even though we are married!

Day 476- Cover your A$$ets!

This is our new favorite game!
Grandpa Beck, Who is really my Uncle Brent has a few games out now, and they are so fun!

We have spent hours playing this game with friends and family just in the last few weeks!
Everyone we have played it with love it!!
If you love card games, i guarantee you will love this one!

They are selling them on Amazon.com, here is the link!

Enjoy many hours of fun! :)

Day 475- Handy Man Husband

I have always known Kyle is very handy, he has build houses, worked at an upholsterer shop, loves to work on cars, and so much more!
When we were in Great Falls he helped his parents build a shed....i had never seen him in action!
He does great work!
I teased him while he was building the shed that i was going to put to work when we got home!
SO I DID!

When we were Engaged we stopped at a Yard Sale and found old window seals....we got the 2 for $3!! I fell in love with them! I was planning on hanging them above the beautiful barn wood headboard Kyle had already made.
After we got married Kyle suggested making night stands with them and extra barn wood from the head board....YES PLEASE!!
New job + School = No extra time for extra projects!

So once we got home from our vacation and Kyle was waiting for his new job to start he worked on our night stands!
We debated how to paint them or if we should leave them how with their original warn paint look.
We decided to crackle paint them...we didn't put a color underneath just the raw wood with red crackle. They look great, wouldn't ya say?

I am very impressed with his work! and can't wait for more projects to come!

Day 471- Trevor came to Idaho!

Both of my brothers are in the Navy, we usually see them at Christmas and if we are lucky one other time during the year. This March when Trevor found out he was getting stationed in Guam (where he also served his mission) we figured we wouldn't see him until he gets relocated to Hawaii (rough life huh?) April 2013. So on his long drive to Washington from Connecticut he took a detour and stopped to have a quick lunch with us then said Good bye for the next year....Or so we thought!!
We were wrong!!
In July Trev found out he would be coming to the Navy base in Washington for a special training! He then took a 24 day leave before the training even began to spend time at home!
WE JUST MISSED HIM!
We left Entiat July 28th and he flew in Aug 2nd :(

So Naturally..... He had to come visit us!!
My dad and Him hopped in the car and make the long trek to Idaho Falls!

Trevor had just gotten a new gun. So we went shooting!

Trev and his new toy!

This is my favorite picture! Kyle makes me laugh!
(don't worry, he was not really shooting just posing)

After shooting we went to the Airplane Museum in Rexburg!
My dad loves Airplanes!

I thought it was fun to make faces in the nose of the planes.

Bored or Amused?

AMUSED!!

Then we took Trevor to have a BIG Jud experience!!
(we had taken my dad before so he know what he was in for)

This is what he was in for.....
A BIG Jud burger!

That is my dads hand next to it!
They are huge!
We all 4 split it.

If you are ever in Eastern Idaho you should stop in to Big Juds!

It was so fun having Trevor and my Dad come visit!
